Teresa Bright-Pearson Biography

Teresa Bright-Pearson began working as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Cape Girardeau County on June 1, 2001.

Teresa was the Prosecuting Attorney for Mississippi County, Missouri, from January of 1995 to September of 1997. She worked from September of 1997 to April of 2001 as an Assistant U. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Teresa was born and raised in East Prairie. After graduating from East Prairie High School, she earned an undergraduate degree in Mass Communications from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri, and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. While in law school she participated in Moot Court and was on the Mock Trial Team for Washington University.

She was elected Prosecuting Attorney of Mississippi County immediately after graduation from law school, even before learning her bar exam results. As Prosecuting Attorney for Mississippi County, Missouri, she handled a wide variety of cases, including five murder cases, before taking the position with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Teresa is married. She and her husband, Jeff Pearson, have two children.
