THOMAS D. HINES
1897 - 1904

T. D. Hines, the seventh prosecuting attorney, was born in northern Cape Girardeau County in May, 1862. He attended Oak Ridge High School and then graduated valedictorian of the Normal School class of 1882. He taught school several years and then read law in an office in Jackson. He was admitted to the bar in 1886. He served four years as prosecuting attorney, trying all sorts of cases, including murder. He later served as Jackson city attorney and as president of the Jackson Board of Education. In 1932 he authored a paper History of Cape Girardeau Judiciary. He died November 30, 1937.
