Salem Lutheran School Assistant Principal Nic Antoine introduced the board game Monopoly last year to students in a unique and fun way. He adapted the game to the location of the school in East Perry County, Missouri. He also created a game board based on East Perry County and enlarged it placing it on the cafeteria wall. Students were then placed onto teams according to the church families they belonged to. Each game took one semester or two quarters to complete.
This year Antoine presented a new game to the students based on the board game Trivial Pursuit. Students are once again divided according to their church families and must and must attain pie wedges in six subjects to win the game. The subjects are Math, Social Studies, Current Events, Science, Spelling and English/Language Arts.
Antoine also uses the computer software title Civilization III by Sid Meier in his Social Studies class to teach students about ancient history and terminology.
Next year Antoine hopes to unveil a board game based on the board game Scrabble.
