Why have a
Foundation

"What is the purpose of the Grace United Methodist Foundation?"

The purpose of our foundation is to support missions in and beyond our church and community, to assist with our church building maintenance and improvement, and for special needs and ministries we choose to support. The Foundation is intended for purposes that are NOT a part of the programs funded through our regular budget and regular giving of our members, but through special gifts and contributions we want to make.

"Is our Foundation an Endowment Fund?"

Yes, we are set up as an "Endowment Fund." This means that contributions to the Foundation are immediately placed into "principal" which is not spent, but grows in perpetuity. The interest or earnings from the principal is then used for the purposes listed above. To date, due to the generosity of our members, our Foundation has approximately $90,000 in principal.

"Who can give to the Grace UMC Foundation?"

  • Anyone who cares about the mission of our church.
  • Since there is no minimum or maximum amount required, anyone can contribute toward the future of the church through a gift to the Foundation. Even a small amount will by multiplied over the years. Your gift will grow!

"How can I give to the Foundation?"

  • Make a contribution during your lifetime by giving assets such as cash, checks, stocks, bonds, mutual funds.
  • Name "Grace United Methodist Church Foundation" as a beneficiary of your will, trust, or insurance policy. Please notify the church of your bequest by contacting the pastor or the chairperson of the Permanent Endowment Fund Committee.
  • Or simply write a check to "Grace UMC Foundation, Inc." and put it in the offering plate or send it to the church office. You might want to give to the Foundation for a special purpose, such as to add to the scholarship fund, or for a memorial or in honor of an individual or an event. Again, this is "special" giving, and not intended to be a part of our regular giving.
  • There is no minimum or maximum amount requested. You determine how much you want to give.
