As an organization, the United Methodist Women has historically been focused on service and mission. This group is a dynamic force within the life of the church. This year the Grace UMW unit will give $2,500 to mission work in addition to offering financial support to special projects within our own church. The Grace UMW is a Five Star Unit. |
UMW Purpose |
UNIT MEETING TIMES:
Our UMW unit meets at the church on the First Tuesday of the months (Feb-April-Sept-Nov) at 10:30a.m. The Mission Team meets at 9:30 a.m. on the same day.
SEWING GROUP
In addition to our UMW circles, mentioned below, we also have a very active Sewing Group which is supplemented financially by UMW Their handiwork is sent to the Festival of Sharing, as well as local nursing homes, and the Veteran's Home here in Cape Girardeau. The Sewing Group meets every Wednesday morning at the church (except in the summer).
CIRCLES
Our UMW has three circles that meet at 9:00am, 12 noon and 6:30pm on the 3rd Tues of each month (except June, July & Aug). Because the circles meet at different times, an individual has more chance of finding a circle that fits her schedule.
Each circle selects its own special service projects as well as participating in projects led by the UMW Unit. Our circles also visit the Shut-Ins of the church each month. This means so much to those who used to be active in the church, but must now remain at home.
UMW READING PROGRAM
Our members are encouraged to participate in the UMW Reading Program promoted Carol Jones.
