 When Missourians suffered from major disasters, like floods in the 90's and tornadoes in Spring 2003, thousands of people came to our aid.Now it's our turn to help our brothers and sisters be they hurricane victims of Katrina, Wilma or the International Earthquake disasters.* Pray First * Send money to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Mark any gifts UMCOR Advance #982523, Hurricanes 2005 Global. All funds sent through UMCOR go directly to relief efforts. UMCOR's administrative costs are covered by United Methodist's undesignated giving (like offerings for One Great Hour of Sharing), so none of your relief donations are diverted for overhead. * Credit card donations can be made by calling 1-800-554-8583. * Collect items for clean-up kits and health kits. (See the back of this insert) * Go as a Volunteer in Missions (VIM) teams. 5-gallon bucket with resealable lid 7 sponges, assorted sizes 50 clothes pins 1 scrub brush 5 scouring pads 2 pair latex gloves 1 pair work gloves 50 oz. dry laundry detergent 18 cleaning towels (reusable, like Easy Wipes) 12 oz. bottle of household cleaner (like Lysol) 28 oz. bottle disinfectant dish soap (like Dawn) Clothesline: two 50 ft. or one 100 ft. 5 packages dust masks (like Benchtop) 24-bag roll heavy-duty trash bags (33-45 gallon) One 6-14 oz. bottle insect repellant (drops or lotion, not aerosol) Please purchase all liquids in plastic bottles. All items should be new, unopened materials. Place all items in the plastic bucket and seal lid tightly. In a separate envelope, please enclose $3 for each Clean-Up Bucket to help with the costs of processing and shipping. Health Kit
1 hand towel 1 washcloth 1 comb 1 metal nail file or nail clipper 1 bath-sized bar of soap 1 toothbrush 1 tube of toothpaste, 4-7 oz. 6 band-aids Bundle all items into the towel and tie with ribbon or yarn.
