To change your Windows XP critical update settings, do the following:
--Right Click on My Computer
OR
--Click on Start
--Click on Control Panel
--If the resulting screen has 8-10 big icons and says Pick a category, click on Switch to Classic View
--Double click on System
THEN
--Click on the Automatic Updates tab
--Set up the resulting screen as shown below:
If you have an older version of Windows XP, your screen may look like this:
--Then click Apply, then OK
After you successfully install the Windows XP SP2 update, be sure to return and change your settings back to "automatic".
