Mentor Program

Show-Me Net's members are a mix of people in the Community ranging from experts to novices.  Many new members have practically no computer or Internet skills.  Others have a vast amount of knowledge and experience and would gladly share their learning with others.  The new Mentor Program is an attempt to provide a method for the Experts to help the Novices.
The program works like this: New members who are having difficulties are asked to call Show-Me Net's Help Desk (573/204-1097).  We help them with minor questions and problems.  But, when the new member needs special help or needs assistance in certain areas outside of our expertise (e.g. Macintosh, Windows 3.1, etc.), we tell them about the Mentor Program.  With the new members consent, we e-mail several expert Mentors with a short description of the difficulty and the new members phone number.  A Mentor calls the new member and helps.  Then, he e-mails the other experts with results of the call.

EXPERTS
Do you have a computer related skill and a desire to help others?  There is a growing need for volunteers to help in these areas:  Macintosh, Windows 3.1, Netscape, hardware problems, etc.  Also, some of our members need a little extra help.   Computer novices, youngsters, seniors, and foreign language speaking members often would benefit greatly from some advice from an expert.  Show-Me net will not divulge any personal information about our Mentors to anyone, except other Mentors, who will receive some e-mail addresses.

NOVICES
Could you use a little extra help?  See our HelpDesk webpage or call Show-Me Net's Help Desk at (573) 204-1097.
