WELCOME TO POOH CORNER

The Parents as Teachers program offers numerous services that emphasize the parents being the child’s first teachers. The services are provided for parents of children, ages birth through five years of age. The program offers personal visits in the home to discuss the child’s growth and development. Annual checkups of the child’s development are given in the areas of language, motor and cognitive skills, hearing, and vision. Group meetings are held with other parents, so they may share experiences and discuss topics of interest. The Parents as Teachers program also has a toy and book lending program.

The first few years of life are critical in the development process. Essentially, the parents are the child’s first teachers, and the child’s home is their first classroom. That is the guiding philosophy of the Parents as Teachers program.

Instructors go to the home to ensure that the home is a safe enviroment.
