Message from the Pastor

Greetings in the name of our Triune God - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!

On behalf of the members of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, I welcome you to our website. We appreciate your interest in dropping by to learn more about our congregation.

This congregation was organized in 1866 and affiliated itself with The Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod (to learn more about The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), you may visit http://www.lcms.org). From its early days until 1962 Immanuel Congregation operated a Lutheran Day School.

The worship, educational and fellowship facilities of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church are located about 4 miles southwest of the city limits of Jackson, MO, and about 3/4 mile north of the community of Tilsit, MO, on State Highway F. The church building was dedicated in AD 1900. The parish hall, which is used for education and fellowship activities, was built in the early 1960's.

We offer regular Sunday worship services at 8:45 AM. During the Seasons of Advent and Lent we also offer Midweek worship services on Wednesdays at 7:15 PM. Other services are also offered during the year. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of the month, as well as special festival services.

In addition to these worship and educational opportunities, Immanuel Congregation offers a midweek Bible study for adults on Tuesdays at 7:15 PM. This study uses materials from the LifeLight Series. This class meets during the school year.

Catechism instruction classes are offered for youth in the seventh and eighth grades to teach them more about Lutheran doctrine and to encourage them in the growth of their faith. These classes are held during the school year.

Any adults, who desire to receive instruction in the teachings of Scripture and the Lutheran faith, are encouraged to contact the Pastor. These classes can be scheduled to be convenient for both the students and the Pastor.

Three societies are available for women: the women of the Ladies' Aid meet weekly at 9 AM for quilting; the women of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) meet monthly on the third Thursday at 7:30 PM for topics and business; and the women of the Altar Guild prepare God's House for worship services.

Junior and Senior high youth can participate in the Young People's Society (YPS). This society meets monthly on the first Sunday at 10:45 AM. They also plan social events for the month.

We welcome you to come visit us in person - whether for a worship service or for some of the other activities that we have to offer.

In Service to Our Lord,
Rev. Mark Boettcher, Pastor
