February was a roller coaster ride!! Between the weather going up and down, power outages for several in our region, the economy, unemployment and even health issues. All I can say is that I am thankful that God is on my side and is taking care of me and my family no matter what Satan or the world throws at us. God tells us that if we follow Him with all our heart, mind & soul he will take care of us. He does not say that it will be easy.
Now we look ahead as we are into March and we will be springing forward. A time where we have more daylight, and we enter the beautiful season of spring. At this time of year we look at spring as the renewal of the earth. Where everything is being reborn new and fresh. Just as we are new and fresh when we are reborn into God’s family. We have the rains that wash away the ugliness and the dirt of the long winter. Just as we are washed in the blood of Jesus and that washes away our sins and the ugliness of our souls.
Isn’t it appropriate that we celebrate Lent and Easter during this season?
As we are in Lent and leading up to the cross and Easter we look at the things we can sacrifice or live without. It is hard for us to think about giving up things that we have. Some of the things that give us comfort or entertainment or even pleasure can be the same things get in our way. They stand between us and our relationship with Christ.
Look at the sacrifice that God has made for us. Look what He gave up for us. He gave us His one and only son. Think about that, could you do that as a parent? I know if God asked me to give up my only son or any of my children I would have a hard time saying “sure”, “no problem”, or “go ahead”. That is not in our nature. We do everything we can to protect our children but I would like to think that I could be that obedient to God and at the same time I hope he doesn’t ask me that.
So think about the huge sacrifice that God made for you and me. For the next month I challenge you to look at your life and see where your focus is. Take care of the things that build your relationship with Christ and tear down those things that take you away from Him.
I ask that God blesses and keeps you. In Christ’s name, Amen
